Exotic Flower Paintings

The Bauhinia is the symbol of the City of Hong Kong and is sometimes called a Hong Kong Orchid Tree.  This medium subtropical is surprisingly hardy in spite of its delicate beauty, featuring orchid-like flowers and exotic leaves.  In Southern California it blooms from January through May.  This floral watercolor was painted en plein air from one of the two Bauhinias in the yard of the artist's home.
