House Portrait Commissions This serene house portrait of the Beck-Sanders Residence in late fall was the third commission that Elena Roché was asked to do in an area of art that was, until recently, new to her: a house portrait. But art is art and a portrait, even a house portrait, is fair game for her considerable and wide ranging talent. This house drawing was executed in graphite and charcoal pencil on museum board and was purposely kept detailed to show off the considerable pride that the owners have in their recent remodel of a non-distinct tract house into a special place where guests are always welcome....home. Since this was the third time Elena Roché was approached to do a house portrait commission, with little promotion on her part, she thought she might be on to something and decided to create a few web pages dedicated to this new area. Her first house portrait commission, a soft, dreamy graphite and charcoal rendering, may be seen here and her second, a cheerful colored pencil cottage here. If you have succeeded in making a home of your house; if you have reached that magical point to where it's now the "home place", then perhaps it's time to immortalize the moment for generations to come and commission a house portrait.
