Seascapes "... and my boat is so small." is a plein air oil seascape of the ocean looking West from Malibu, California on a late afternoon in June, 2006. This seascape view is about a fifteen minute drive down the canyon from the Roché family home, El Refugio. The sea and sky were earlier shrouded in a low, misty marine layer, locally called "June Gloom", but it has retreated and now the horizon and the upper cloud layers are visible. The sea and sky will be dark in an hour. A fishing boat that probably started before dawn is making it's way home and is almost lost in the vastness of the ocean. The title is derived from a prayer attributed to Breton fishermen. This painting is an example of a Seascape Painting, but could just as well be your Seascape or Marine Painting Commission. If you have an architectural feature of your waterfront home, business, your yacht or a special ocean or beach view that you would like to preserve in a painting commission, this is an example of how it could be done. Seascapes and Marine Painting Commissions also make memorable gifts. To order click here.
